Whether Military Police Soldiers are enabling the integrity of our Nation’s border, the Joint Force’s presence in Europe, partnership in INDOPACOM, or the safety and security of our camps, posts, and stations throughout the world, MPs are FUNDAMENTAL TO READINESS and are FOUNDATIONAL TO THE FIGHT when called.

Last year we established the baseline – THE PROMISE – that MPs are always ready to protect, defend, and serve…that MPs are the Army’s SHIELD. This year – THE YEAR OF PROTECTION – as we celebrate our 85th Anniversary, we’ll extend that shield to setting and maintaining the environment anywhere in the world so our Soldiers, Families, and Civilians can THRIVE, so our Commanders can MAKE DECISIONS, and so our Force can EXECUTE the mission.

LAW ENFORCEMENT and DETENTION OPERATIONS remain the exquisite, technical expertise we owe the Army…integrating, synchronizing, and orienting protection operations in time, space, and purpose is how we are relevant to the Army. Success is the preservation of combat power, denial of the enemy’s freedom of action, and enablement of commanders to apply combat power. In other words, MPs seek action to own the initiative.

FUNDAMENTAL TO READINESS – In all domains and dimensions, at home station and abroad, MPs set and maintain the environment that allows Commanders to conduct the critical activity of training the force and establish the critical capability to project force when required.

FOUNDATIONAL TO THE FIGHT – In all domains and dimensions, throughout the battlefield geometry, MPs set and maintain the environment that is the baseline for Commanders to establish tempo, agility, and operational reach in maneuver.

The YEAR OF PROTECTION is not new for the Military Police Corps; it is what we do and have done throughout our 85-year history. OF THE TROOPS we were born and FOR THE TROOPS we will set and maintain the environment through a bias for action, integration of protection operations, and continued technical expertise in law enforcement and detention operations.

Last year we renewed our PROMISE to be the SHIELD…this year, we’ll demonstrate our relevance to the Force as the integrators and synchronizers of PROTECTION for the Army.
