Law Enforcement Officer Credentialing
The United States Army Law Enforcement Credentials started being issued to Army Military Police (MP) Officers and Department of the Army Civilian Police (DACP) who graduate MP One Station Unit Training (OSUT), MP Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC), K9 Advanced Individual Training (AIT) or the United States Army Civilian Police Academy (USACPA) in June of 2020. As of 2024, there have been over 25,000 Law Enforcement Credentials issued to all US Army Military Police and Department of the Army Civilian Police Officers (DACP). These credentials are to identify personnel as Law Enforcement personnel for the Army and must be within good standing to maintain them.
Establishing a Credentialing Program
The unit must have an Appointment Letter Memo filled out and signed by the highest-ranking MP officer or civilian equivalent appointing a Credentialing Manager (CM) and alternate(entrusted E-5 or above with at least 2 years left on station)) to establish a Credentialing Program. The highest ranking officer/civilian equivalent will be the endorsing officer for all requested credentials. The CM will be responsible for requesting credentials, Bi-Annual inventory, and submitting revoked/suspended credentials to the OAC.
Once the Appointment Letter is received, the CM will need to request access to the LE Credentialing SharePoint, ensuring to include all of the requested information. Without an Appointment Letter and proper request information, your requests will be denied.
Upon approval to the SharePoint, the CM will have access to all the templates for requests as well as the step-by-step instructions. The SharePoint is separated between COMPOS. COMPO1: Active Duty, COMPO2: National Guard, COMPO3: Reserves, and IMCOM-AMCOM. Credentialing Managers will need to locate the correct COMPO folder, find their Brigade folder, Battalion folder, and Company folder. If for some reason your folder is not there, please add it under the correct BDE and BN. DACP folders are under IMCOM/AMCOM folder.
All appointment letters, backdrop requests, and Sharepoint upload notifications need to be sent to: kiana.k.byerlee.civ@army.mil and LawEnforcementCredentialing@army.mil
Both emails ensure all requests are in order in which they are received and helps prevent unintentionally missed requests. Please be patient, from start to finish, credentials can take 6-8 weeks to process. Only completed requests that have been reviewed will be added to the que to be created. Graduating courses, mobilizing units, and units on FLW take priority.
**Only Retirement requests for currently serving personnel are being processed at this time. If the Retirees retirement has already been completed, they will not be eligible to receive their retired credentials at this time.
These Credentials do not make you DODPOST certified and are not LEOSA’s either. These are just to identify personnel as Law Enforcement for the Army.
