We offer walk-in services for powers of attorney (POA) and simple notarizations. 

All other Legal Assistance services (to include notarization of house closing documents) are provided on an appointment basis only.

We will do our best to contact you within two business days to set up an appointment. Individuals requiring emergency services will be given the proper priority.

  • Your Name (if applicable, also include spouses’ info)
    • If you are a Service Member, please include your rank.
    • If you are a Civilian, please include your military affiliation i.e.: spouse, DA CIV, contractor, etc.

Mission

The Client Services and Policy Division, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, U.S. Army Europe and Africa aims to provide outstanding personal client legal services to the USAG Wiesbaden military community in numerous areas including legal assistance, claims, SVC representation, and preventative law.

What We Provide

We provide free, confidential legal services and advice to service members, retirees, DoD/DA Civilians and their family members, as well as limited legal assistance to contractors and their family members (when DOD is contractually obligated to provide support--contractors must have "legal assistance" specifically identified in their contract). We provide legal services in the following area, but not limited to:

  • Affidavits
  • Claims (We provide general guidance for Chapter 11 claims, and reviews and processes Chapter 3 and 12 claims.) 
  • Consumer Law
  • Family Law (Divorce, Custody, Support)
  • German Legal Issues (Traffic Tickets, Landlord-Tenant Law, NATO-SOFA issues)
  • Immigration Law
  • Military Administrative Law
  • Notary Services
  • US Tax Advice
  • Wills & Powers of Attorney* **

    * Active duty and retired service members and their command sponsored dependents have priority in the preparation and execution of estate documents (Last Wills and Testament; Advanced Healthcare Directives; Living Wills; Delegation of Parental Powers over Minor Children and/or Standby Guardianship Designation).  All other eligible military and civilian personnel will be seen on a space-available basis.

    ** Attorneys and paralegals assigned to this office are not authorized to execute estate documents prepared by a third party.

*Please note that all services are subject to availability based on current staffing resources.

In addition to the services listed above, please be aware that certain legal matters are handled by other divisions within the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate (OSJA). The information below will help you identify the correct office for your specific needs:

 The Military and Civil Law Division (MCD) provides legal reviews for command-related issues, including but not limited to:

  • Cup and flower funds
  • Career Skills Program
  • Skill Bridge
  • After-Army employment inquiries
  • Other command administrative matters requiring a legal review.

Trial Defense Services (TDS) provides advice and counsel regarding:

Tax Info

HQDA decided a few years ago that US Army Legal Assistance Offices will no longer offer tax preparation services in conjunction with the IRS’s VITA program.

However, there are still many free tax resources available to the Wiesbaden community!
