Frequently Asked Questions
Who can go on the history tours?
Anyone can sign up for a tour. Participants must provide their full name and date of birth. Children 17 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
How do I sign up?
Registration is via email at drumhistorytour@gmail.com.
During the registration process, the tour rosters are reviewed and finalized by our security team.
If I went on the last tour, can I attend another?
Yes, but you must register each time. The announcement is posted on the Fort Drum and 10th Mountain Division Facebook about three weeks before the tour date. Registration information is also sent to local media. Seating is limited, and tours tend to fill up quickly.
How do I know what time and where to meet the bus on the day of the tour?
We will send a confirmation letter with more information about the tour, including parking, required identification, suggested footwear and approved personal items, such as cameras, snacks and nonalcoholic beverages.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost. There is, however, an opportunity to visit the Off the Beatin’ Path Gift Shop.
Can I drive my own vehicle?
No. Everyone will be directed to a parking area, where you will leave your vehicle and get checked in to travel on a bus. The tours are designed to move as a group on a bus with guides providing information between stops.
Can I bring a stroller?
Yes. Understand some tours are out on the ranges without level ground or smooth surfaces, and for some strollers, this can be a challenge.
Are the tours handicapped accessible?
Not at this time. We are in the process of purchasing a bus that will accommodate a wheelchair.
