To enable service and mission readiness, a new DOD policy, effective Sept. 1, has been enacted to ensure military families have priority access to childcare services. We continue to wait on the business rules to be published by the Office of Secretary of Defense, at which time the Child and Youth Services (CYS) staff will be trained on implementing these changes. Outside of the information found in the memo, there are very few questions the Garrison, including CYS, can answer for our Families until further implementation guidance is received. We cannot estimate exactly how many or who this new policy may affect at this time. CYS will keep families updated as soon as additional guidance is received.
