Young Village marks Fort Belvoir's 16th housing development
The past and the future came together on Fort Belvoir as Brig. Gen. Charles Young, an Army pioneer, was chosen to be the namesake for a privatized housing village of 200 new officers’ homes on post, during a groundbreaking ceremony March 5, 2026. This project adds to the more than 2,100 Fort Belvoir homes spread across 15 villages. Construction is expected to be completed in September 2028.

Army Office of Special Trial Counsel Recognizes Sexual Assault Awareness Month
April 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This year’s theme, “25 Years Stronger: Looking Back, Moving Forward,” celebrates the resilience of survivors and the communities that have worked for change. The Army Office of Special Trial Counsel, Headquartered at Fort Belvoir Virginia, was created specifically to independently handle the prosecution of the most serious criminal offenses which includes all crimes of sexual assault and violence.

Fort Belvoir Active Shooter Exercise Sharpens Skills
Every move by garrison responders during the active shooter drill was closely observed by subject matter experts from Installation Management Command (IMCOM), as part of the garrison’s triennial full-scale exercise. By simulating a real-world crisis, emergency managers hoped to test and validate the garrison’s emergency response plans, ensuring that first responders can react swiftly and effectively to neutralize threats while ensuring the safety and security of Soldiers, their Families and Army civilians – a key aspect of installation readiness.

I grew up learning that home was not a single place, but a shared commitment to family, service, and adaptability. My father served in the Army for twenty years, and by the time I reached high school, I had moved seven times. Those moves took me to five different states and to Germany twice. Those experiences shaped how I understood the world long before I had words for it.
