The Pentagon is expanding the use of wearable fitness trackers to help predict outbreaks of infectious diseases such as COVID-19 as use of the technology, such as watches and rings, spreads in the military despite early security concerns.
Fort Belvoir’s trusted Traveler Program, which had been instituted last fall, has been suspended to conduct a traffic study. Installation access has returned to 100% ID checks at the gate. All visitors who do not have a DoD ID card, or military ID card will be required to receive an access card or visitor pass at Tully Gate’s Visitor Control Center, which is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
