Purpose: This course provides Technicians level responder training for the purpose of implementing or supporting actions to protect nearby persons, the environment, or property from the effects of Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) incidents.
 
Scope: Training will focus on providing the skills and knowledges required to prepare for and respond to a Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) incident. The course includes training on a variety of military CBRN Equipment, and includes training and familiarization on, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), emergency response In-transit procedures, planning and preparing for Domestic Reconnaissance operations, the fundamentals of Toxic Industrial Chemicals/Materials (TIC/TIM), sampling and collection procedures, mission abort procedures, and the procedures to set-up, process through and close out a survey team decontamination site. Successful course completion will provide certification to the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) Hazardous Materials Technician level of training.
 
Prerequisites: Enlisted (E-1 through E-8), Officer (0-1 through 0-5), and Warrant Officer (WO-1 through WO-3) Active, Reserve or Army National Guard Soldiers with a MOSC of 12M, 74D, 74A, 740A or 89D; Enlisted and Officer Air Force and Air National Guard Airmen, Enlisted (E-1 through E-7) with a 3E9 AFSC; Enlisted and Warrant Officer Active and Reserve Marines with a MOSC of 5711, 5769 and 5702; Navy, Coast Guard, and DOD civilian equivalent personnel whose rating, job or mission is directly related to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear force protection WMD/hazard, detection, identification and elimination operations. All students who will be attending the CBRN Responder Technicians Course must be IFSAC or Pro Board Awareness and Operations level certified.
 
Special Information: All Students attending the CBRN Responder Technicians Course must meet the physical requirements of the course.  Students cannot possess a temporary or permanent profile which prohibits them from conducting any training or precludes them from wearing Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for 60 minutes or bearing 45 lbs. Day one, all students will be required to be cleared through a medical screening provided by nurses from General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital (GLWACH) in accordance with NFPA 471 chapter 10. The American Council on Education (ACE Military Programs Evaluation recommended the USACBRNS CBRN Responders Course earn the following; in the lower-division baccalaureate associate degree category, 4 semester hours in emergency response technician and 2 semester hours environmental sampling and monitoring.
 
Foreign Disclosure: FD3 - This training product has been reviewed by the developers in coordination with the USACBRNS foreign disclosure representative and MSCoE foreign disclosure officer. This training product cannot be used to instruct international military students.
