Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
TF-CBT is a three-day course for licensed clinicians. TF-CBT is an evidence-based form of therapy specifically adapted for children who have experienced trauma and who are having significant emotional and/or behavioral problems related to their traumatic life events. Prior to attending the in-person training, attendees must complete a mandatory web-based TF-CBT training. Continuing Education Units are offered at the completion of the web-based training. The first two days prepare clinicians to begin the practice of TF-CBT. The third day covers Problematic Sexual Behavior in Children: Current Findings and Implications for Practice training, which is a 1-day overview training on children who exhibit or impacted by problematic sexual behavior. This training is designed to provide an introductory understanding of normative and problematic sexual behavior in children (age 12 and under), the origins of problematic sexual behavior, myths/misconceptions about the population, evidence-based assessment and treatment strategies for children who exhibit sexual behavior problems and how professionals can support children and families affected will be discussed. This course is taught as a residence course at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.
