Mission:

The Directorate of Human Resources, Fort Jackson, Identification card office continues to strive and provide excellent customer service. Effective Jan. 3, 2022, walk-ins will be allocated FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY. The following constitutes an emergency: Soldiers and Department of Defense civilian/contractors with a non-functioning common access cards, customers needing a replacement CAC due to lost or stolen card, pin rest, expired card and new employment of DOD civilian/contractor employees.

ID Cards

The Fort Jackson ID card office located in room 109 operates on an appointment basis Monday-Friday, 8:20 a.m. to 4 p.m. in 20-minutes increments.  Emergency walk-in is on a first come first serve basis.  All ID card appointments are made on line by utilizing the ID card Appointment Scheduler at: https://rapids-appointments.dmdc.ods.mil.  Customers experiencing problems logging into the appointment scheduler or customer inquiring on the availability of same day appointment, please call:  (803) 751-6024/5678 and we will gladly assist you. 

Please schedule only one appointment per customer receiving a military ID card.  Appointments are not required for customers needing to update/enroll family members in DEERS, pin-reset, or to obtain a printed DD Form 1172-2.  The above listed services will be provided on a walk-in basis throughout normal business hours.  For additional information, please call (803) 751-7731 during normal business hours to hear a pre-recorded message. NOTE:  Every first and third Thursday of the month, all DHR offices are closed for mandatory training from 1:30-5 p.m., and closed for all Federal Holidays. 

New Identification Cards (ID) Procedures

ID card appointments can be made 90 DAYS PRIOR TO THE EXPIRATION DATE ON YOUR ID CARD. We highly encourage you to make an appointment to have predictability on when you will be seen.

 

The new operating hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. for scheduled appointments only. Appointments are made utilizing the RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler at https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco. Below are instructions for scheduling appointments on the website: 

 

An appointment must be made for each individual that needs an appointment. Only one appointment can be made per time slot

 

1. Log onto the provided website @ https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco

2. Click “Search for Site by Name or ID”

3. Enter 102071 under “Site Name or ID”

3. Select “Search”

4. Select “Ft Jackson site”

5. At the bottom of the page select “Schedule an Appointment”

6. The calendar will display either “Available Appointments or Fully Booked”

7. Availability will display at the bottom of the page

5. Complete the required information, then “Save”

 

 Once scheduled, you will receive a confirmation email with the details and special instructions about your appointment. It is imperative that you pay special attention to the required/accepted documents needed for the appointment.

Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) Reset:

PIN resets are conducted Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Room 124 for trainees/students and Room 200 for permanent party Soldiers, civilians, and contractors.

Extended Policy Guidance for Identification Card Operations During COVID-19. 

Due to the DoD’s limited ability to return Identification (ID) Card facilities to normal operations while continuing to comply with local pandemic safety precautions, the Acting Under Secretary of Defense has extended Retirees and their dependents, and all other populations to  Jan. 31, 2022

 

 

DEERS

Initial DEERS Enrollment:

The sponsor must be present or information updated in ID Card Office Online or a current DD Form 1172-2 signed by the sponsor or a General Power of Attorney must be presented, and original or true court certified copies of required documents must be presented.  NOTE:  Only DD Form 1172-2 generated from the DEERS/RAPIDS system or MilConnect (Rapids Self-Service) can be utilized to produce 1172-2 for this office:  https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/self_service .

 

Enrolling a New Spouse:

Required documents - 

- Valid Federal or State picture ID

 

- Original or true certified marriage license

- Original birth certificate (can be the short form)

- Original Social Security Card

- All Divorce Decrees of the Sponsor/Spouse (if applicable)

- Disable American Veterans (DAV) - Award Letter showing dependents for all 100% and DD Form 214 Copy 4

 

Enrolling Newborns: 

Required documents -

- Original long form birth certificate (showing sponsor and spouse full names)

- Original Social Security card (if received)

 

Single Fathers:

Required documents –

- Original birth certificate or Certificate of Live Birth or Consular Report of Birth (FS-240) showing sponsor full name,

- Original Social Security card (if received)

- AND one of the following; (1) legal documents showing paternity was judicially determined, referred to as a “court order of paternity.” Court order for child support is not sufficient unless it also reflects the legal paternity of the parent or (2) a Voluntary Acknowledge of Paternity (VAP) from state child was born.

 

Step Children:

Required documents - 

- Original Marriage Certificate

- Long form birth certificate displaying mother/father names

- Original Social Security card

 

Wards and Foster Children:

Required documents - 

- Original or true certified copy of court documentation stating legal or physical custody, placing the child in sponsor’s custody for at least 12 consecutive months

- Long form birth certificate

- Social Security card

 

DoD/Contract Employees:

Be aware, it may take up to 36 hours or longer to completely process into the RAPIDS/DEERS system.  NOTE:  NAF, AAFES and DoD School employees a DD Form 1172-2 is required for initial issuing of a CAC card.

 

Contractors: 

CAC information will be entered into DEERS through Contractor Verification System (CVS) or Trusted Associate Sponsorship System (TASS).  Please contact your POC to ensure that the information has been updated.

 

ID card Renewals:

Sponsors must be present or current DD Form 1172-2 signed by the sponsor or a General or Special Power of Attorney must be presented.  Original or certified true copies of required documents must be presented.

 

Sponsor or Spouse:

- Two forms of valid identification (not damage). One must be a valid Federal or State picture ID, and a birth certificate, social security card VA card, Voters Registration card or valid Passport)

- When turning age 65, a Medicare card with Parts A&B or a letter stating member is not eligible for Medicare is required.

 

Children: 

- Ages 10 to 17 - one form of identification (birth certificate or social security card)

 

Children:

- Ages 18 – 22 - two forms of valid identification (not damage). One must be a valid picture Federal or State picture ID, and a birth certificate, social security card, VA card, Voters Registration card or valid Passport) and must not be expired.

 

Children:

- Ages 21 – 23, - two forms of valid identification (not damage). One must be a valid Federal or State picture ID, and a birth certificate, social security card, Voters Registration card or valid Passport) and must not be expired

- A current letter from the school registrar’s office on school letter head certifying enrollment in a full-time course of study leading to an associate degree or higher, and anticipated graduation date or verification of enrollment from National Student Clearinghouse with expected graduation date.

 

Retirees:

 

Active Duty Retiree:

Required documentation:

- Final copy of DD Form 214 (copy 4)

- Retirement order

- Two (2) forms of valid identification (not damage). 

- CAC card

- A valid picture Federal or State picture ID, and a birth certificate, social security card, VA card, Voters Registration card or valid Passport) and must not be expired

 

Reserve Retirees with 20 years of service:

Required documentation:

- 20 year Retirement order

- Two (2) forms of valid identification (not damage). 

- CAC card

- A valid Federal or State picture ID, and a birth certificate, social security card, VA card, Voters Registration card or valid Passport) and must not be expired

 

Reserve Retirees at age 60 years of age:

Required documentation:

- Notice of Eligibility for Retired Pay at Age 60

- Two (2) forms of valid identification (not damage). 

- A valid picture Federal or State picture ID, and a birth certificate, social security card VA card, Voters Registration card or valid Passport) and must not be expired

 

Dependency Packages are available on line only and must be submitted directly to DFAS at https://www.dfas.mil/militarymembers/SecondaryDependency/SDC.html

 

Available packets:  Parents, Parents-in-law, In Loco Parentis, Incapacitated Child (21 years or older), Student (21 or 22 years old) for BAH only, Ward (under 21 years old) for BAH only.

 

Types of disenrollment and required documents:

- Death of sponsor/spouse:  Death certificate

- Divorce:  Original or true certified copy of the final divorce decree. 

- Children under the age of 21 requesting removal from Sponsor’s DEERS  Original or true certified marriage certificate, enlistment contract or Oath of Office or Court Order Emancipation

Ward or Parent-in-Law:  Sponsor must request disenrollment
