Five-Year Reviews

Purpose and Process

Five-Year Reviews are conducted in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), which is more commonly known as Superfund. The U.S. Army conducts each review and prepares each Five-Year Review Report in cooperation with the EPA, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and Adams County Health Department.

The purpose of the review is to assess the ongoing protectiveness of the remedy for human health and the environment. A multiagency team also evaluates whether any changes to environmental standards that affect the site have occurred within the past five years.
