Effective 16 October 2006, the US Installation Management Agency was redesignated as the US Army Installation Management Command and as a direct reporting unit to the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management, Headquarters Department of the Army.
The Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management (LTG Wilson) is the Installation Management Command, Commanding General. The former Director of Installation Management Agency (MG McDonald) is designated the Deputy Commanding General, Installation Management Command.
Scarlet is the color traditionally used by Support units, with which Installation Management Command (IMCOM) is associated. The heptagon represents the seven geographic regions overseen and serviced by the organization. The chain links signify durability, while the ring denotes continuous service. The combination of the chain links and ring symbolize the Installation Management Command’s continuous worldwide support to all Soldiers, civilians, their families and units. A teal blue flag on which is centered the insignia for branch immaterial in yellow between two teal blue arced scrolls. The top scroll is inscribed "Headquarters Command" and the lower scroll is inscribed "Fort Belvoir." All letters are yellow and the fringe is yellow. The device used is the Branch immaterial flag device. This is used for guidons and flags of organizations that are not branch specific. The device is teal blue and yellow. The most prominent feature of the flag is the American bald eagle supporting the shield (escutcheon) which is composed of 13 stripes, representing the original states all joined. The motto translated "One of many" alludes to each state as part of the union. The olive branch and arrows denote the power of peace and war. The constellation denotes a new State taking its place and rank among other sovereign powers.
