Counter Explosive Hazards Center Legacy Course Information

Introduction: This course is aimed at Maneuver & Maneuver Support Companies & Battalion level staff personnel in the Contemporary Operating Environment; covering planning methodologies to assist in explosive hazard defeat operations in Wide Area Security and Stability & Support operations. Training includes interpretation of data, situational awareness development, predictive analysis, coordination of counter explosive hazard operations, decision making tools, Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (CIED) threat and equipment, and other countermeasures. Learn U.S. Army planning methodologies that assist in explosive hazard defeat and CIED operations. Taught to understand the explosive hazard threat in the operating environment, threat analysis, ISR capabilities, and to conduct explosive hazard defeat operations in accordance with Assured Mobility.

Concept: Structured as a 10 day (80-hour) training event: Planning and targeting support for assured mobility in explosive hazards operating environment.

Learn the concept of Company Intelligence Support Teams and how they support Maneuver Support operations. Taught situational awareness development; company support to the targeting process; analysis to develop threat models, threat awareness, and threat TTPs; support to the intelligence collection process; conducting briefings, pre-briefs and debriefs of company patrols; and the importance of reporting and dissemination.

Learn the use of automated data analysis and analytical tools that will assist in development of situational awareness and a common operating picture.

Introduction: This course provides leaders the individual and collective knowledge and skills required to conduct route reconnaissance and clearance operations with standard Route Clearance Equipment (RCE). Students are taught to understand the EH threat, mission planning, route reconnaissance, enemy TTP, and the employment of RCE.

Concept: Structured as a 10-day (80-hour) training event, the course familiarizes students on the operation of the RG31, Husky, and Buffalo. The leadership will receive the most current IED/Threat briefs, TTPs, and roles and responsibilities of each member of the RC team and its equipment.

Introduction: Route Clearance (RC) is the detection, investigation, marking, reporting, and neutralization of Explosive Hazards (EH) and other obstacles along a defined route to enable Assured Mobility for the maneuver commander. It is a combined arms operation that relies on a reconnaissance of the route to be cleared. This course provides operators the individual and collective knowledge and skills required to conduct route reconnaissance and clearance operations with standard Route Clearance Equipment (RCE). Students are taught to understand the EH threat, route reconnaissance, and enemy TTPs.

Concept: Structured as a 10-day (80-hour) training event, the course qualifies students on vehicle operation, recovery, component change, mine detection capability and HMDS. The Buffalo/RG track combine to train operators in COTS enablers such as Arm/spork interrogation, Roller operations, VOSS camera.

The EHTC provides an overview and instructs students in the use of ArcGIS geospatial software and automated data analysis, using Microsoft Excel, to track explosive hazards such as UXOs, IEDs, and landmines. The class is focused towards units that will be performing C-IED missions to ensure battlefield awareness. This allows maneuver elements freedom of movement, ensures maximum efficiency and provides a measure of safety to military elements engaged on the battlefield. The course will train Soldiers of all arms, throughout Joint Forces Commands (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard), with priority given to training operators in units deploying with the Explosive Hazards Coordination Cell (EHCC) mission.
