The Legal Assistance Division provides direct, confidential civil legal services to individuals authorized in Army Regulation 27-3 in the following subject areas:

  • Estate Planning, including the preparation of wills, advance medical directives, and powers of attorney;
  • Family Law, including family/child/spousal support, marital separations and divorce, child custody and visitation;
  • Domestic violence, including in-court representation of victims seeking state court civil protective orders
  • Special Education legal support to EFMP families;
  • Military administrative actions (including but not limited to GOMOR rebuttals, evaluation appeals, and relief for cause);
  • Real Estate and Landlord/Tenant issues, including SCRA lease terminations; and
  • Consumer Law including relating to the purchase of personal property, including, but not limited to, contracts, warranties, cancellations, defects/deficiencies of purchased goods, and other consumer affairs matters, identity theft, banking, credit card, property insurance, debt, limiting interest on pre-service obligations under the SCRA, cancellation of indebtedness, bankruptcy, and wage garnishment orders.

The Division also provides a wide range of informational materials, general notary services, and prepares and notarizes general and special powers of attorney.
