CSM William M. Shoaf
Command Sergeant Major William M. Shoaf is a native of North Augusta, South Carolina. He enlisted in the Army in January 1997 and attended Military Police One Station Unit Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama. He graduated in May 1997 from Company D, 795th Military Police Battalion as the Distinguished Honor Graduate.
His duty assignments include: 59th Military Police Company, 759th Military Police Battalion, Fort Carson, Colorado; Law Enforcement Command, Fort Clayton, Panama; 10th Military Police Co, Military Police Bn. During his career, Command Sergeant Major Shoaf has served in various positions which include gunner, driver, military police patrolman, team leader, squad leader, S3 training NCO, drill sergeant, senior drill sergeant, platoon sergeant, rear operations plans NCO, detachment sergeant, military police advisor, operations sergeant, first sergeant, senior enlisted leader, S3 sergeant major, BN/BDE command sergeant major, and regimental command sergeant major for the Military Police Corps Regiment.
Command Sergeant Major Shoaf’s military and civilian education and training include Military Police Basic and Advanced Training, Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, First Sergeants Course, Battle Staff Course, Sergeants Major Course (Class 67), Air Assault School, Drill Sergeant School, Anti-Terrorism Officer (Basic) Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Combative Level 1, Cold Weather Leaders Course and Master Resiliency. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with minors in History and Criminal Justice from Columbia College of Missouri and Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas El Paso.
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (two oak leaf clusters), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (silver oak leaf cluster) Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (three oak leaf clusters), Army Good Conduct Medal (ninth award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 6), Overseas Service Ribbon (numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal. He has also been awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Superior Unit Award, Air Assault Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, German Armed Forces Badge of Marksmanship (Silver) and the Drivers Badge (W). He is a recipient of the prestigious Order of the Marechaussee in Bronze and Silver.
