Mr. Mark Cox
Deputy to the Garrison Commander
Mr. Mark K. Cox assumed the position of Deputy to the Garrison Commander, USAG Fort Jackson (IMCOM Directorate - Training), on January 7, 2018. As the DGC, he manages the Garrison staff operations in support of the U.S. Army Training Center (USATC) and Fort Jackson, Basic Combat Training mission. The garrison supports a base population of over 33,000 Soldiers, Civilians, Family Members, and Contractors, as well as supporting over 55,000 retirees in the area.
Prior to this assignment, Mr. Cox served as the Director of G3/5/7, IMCOM-Pacific, Fort Shafter, Hawaii. His staff supported operations at twelve Army Garrisons in Hawaii, Alaska, Korea, Japan, and Kwajalein Atoll, and ensured IMCOM support to mission commands throughout the Pacific theater. Mr. Cox previously served as Deputy to the Garrison Commander, USAG Humphreys Korea, and Director of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security, USAG Humphreys Korea.
Mr. Cox began his professional career in 1985. Throughout his 33-year career as both a Soldier and Civilian, he has served in numerous assignment at locations including Fort Bliss, Texas, Fort Carson, Colo, Fort Polk, La., Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Knox, Ky., Fort Shafter, Hawaii, Fort Jackson, S.C., and Korea. Mr. Cox has a Bachelor's degree and is pursuing a Master in Emergency Management. He is a graduate of Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education course, Kansas University Senior Leader Executive Education and multiple Army Civilian Education System course. Mr. Cox's awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Commanders Awards for Civilian Service and Superior Civilian Service award.
Mr. Cox and his spouse reside in the Columbia. They have two daughters.
