Col. Timothy Hickman

Col. Timothy Hickman commissioned in 2000 through ROTC at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and was branched detailed to the Air Defense Artillery (ADA) before becoming an Adjutant General Corps officer.

He began his military career as a Platoon Leader in 5-52 ADA Battalion (PATRIOT) at Fort Bliss, Texas. He deployed with Echo Battery 5-52 ADA during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, and upon redeployment he served as a Battery Executive Officer and then as the Battalion Adjutant of 5-52 ADA Battalion. He completed his branch detail to ADA and attended the Adjutant General (AG) Corps Captain’s Career Course at Fort Jackson, SC in 2004.

He served as the Battalion S1 of the Atlanta Recruiting Battalion from 2004-2006 and then as the Assistant Operations Officer at the Military Entrance and Processing Station in Beckley, WV from 2006-2008. From 2008-2011 he was stationed in Korea where he served as the Strength Manager of the 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command and then as the Brigade S1 for the 501st Sustainment Brigade. In 2012 he attended the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS followed by an assignment as a J5 Strategic Plans Officer at Joint Task Force North at Fort Bliss, TX from 2012-2014.

In 2014, he served as the Deputy G1 and Task Force Marne G1 for the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, GA, until he deployed as the Deputy J1 for United States Forces Afghanistan in 2015. He then served as the Chief of the Integrated Personnel & Pay System (IPPS-A) Fusion Cell at the Soldier Support Institute, Fort Jackson, SC from 2016- 2018.

He commanded the Headquarters Battalion, U.S. Army North (U.S. Fifth Army), at Fort Sam Houston, TX from 2018-2020. He then returned to Fort Jackson, SC as the AG Proponent Director at the AG School, for a year until he attended the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, PA from 2021-2022. Colonel Hickman then served as the Director of the TRADOC Proponent Office for Human Resources (TPO-HR) at Fort Jackson, SC. He was selected to take command of the Garrison at Fort Jackson, SC summer of 2023.

Colonel Hickman has Masters degrees from the U.S. Army War College and from West Virginia University. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree from UTSA. His military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. He has campaign medals from the Global War on Terror for Iraq and Afghanistan, service medals for Korean and NATO tours, and the Combat Action Badge.

Colonel Hickman is married and has four children.
