Command Sergeant Major Brie Kotula
Command Sergeant Major Brie E. Kotula is a native of Maryland and entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 17, 2002. She began her career as a light-wheeled vehicle mechanic by attending basic training at Fort Jackson, SC and attended advanced individual training at Fort Jackson, SC. CSM Kotula reclassed into the Military Occupational Specialty 89D, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician in 2006.
Command Sergeant Major Kotula has held a variety of leadership positions. Her career highlights include: Battalion Command Sergeant Major of the 303d Ordnance Disposal Battalion (EOD), Schofield Barracks, HI; TRADOC Proponent Office – Explosive Ordnance Disposal (TPO-EOD) Sergeant Major, Fort Lee, VA; EOD First Sergeant 767th Ordnance Company (EOD), Fort Bragg, NC; Senior EOD Recruiter for Special Operations Recruiting Battalion, Fort Bragg, NC; EOD Platoon and Operations Sergeant, 759th Ordnance Company (EOD), Fort Irwin, CA; Platoon Sergeant and EOD Team Leader, 787th Ordnance Company (EOD), Fort Lewis, WA; and Team Leader, 55th Ordnance Company (EOD), Fort Belvoir, VA.
Command Sergeant Major Kotula has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2012 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Command Sergeant Major Kotula’s military education includes the Sergeants Major Academy, Senior Leaders Course, the Advanced Leaders Course, the Basic Leaders Course, Airborne, the Combat Lifesavers Course, the Army Recruiting Course, Anti-Terrorism Basic Officers Course, the Joint Nuclear Training Course, Advance Improvised Explosive Course, Combative Level 1, and Human Resource Management Course. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Sports and Health Science with a concentration on Exercise and Rehabilitation.
