Colonel Stephen E. Capehart is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee. He entered the United States Army as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of Tennessee in 1999. Commissioned as an armor officer, Colonel Capehart has served in a variety of command and staff positions to include command of the 1st Battalion, 68th Armored Regiment and the Operations Officer of the 4th Infantry Division.
His operational assignments include the continental United States, Germany, Kosovo, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Kuwait, and three combat tours in Iraq. In addition, he holds a master’s degree in international relations from Webster’s University and is a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College and the United States Army War College.
Prior to joining the National Training Center Operations Group, COL Capehart served as the commander of 3d Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division located at Fort Carson, Colorado. Colonel Capehart is married with three children.
