COL LANE A. BOMAR

Colonel Lane A. Bomar graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1999 and was commissioned as an Armor Officer.

After graduation from the Armor Officer Basic Course, COL Bomar was assigned to the National Training Center where he served as a tank platoon leader in A Troop, 1^st Squadron, 11^th Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), as a troop executive officer in B Troop, 1^st Squadron, 11^th ACR and as the troop executive officer for Regimental Headquarters and Headquarters Troop (RHHT), 11^th ACR.

After attending the Armor Officer Advance Course, he was assigned to 1^st Brigade, 1^st Armored Division as the Brigade Assistant Operations Officer. He was then assigned to 2^nd Battalion, 37^th Armor Regiment, 1^st Brigade Combat Team and deployed to Tal Afar and Ramadi, Iraq, serving as the Battalion’s Assistant Operations Officer. Upon his redeployment, COL Bomar was assigned to the 11^th ACR where he commanded C Troop, 1^st Squadron, 11^th ACR and Regimental Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 11^th ACR.

After company command, COL Bomar deployed with 1^st Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT), 1^st Infantry Division as Stability Transition Team Advisor to the 12^th Iraqi Army Division G3, G5 and G7 in Kirkuk, Iraq.

In 2012, he attended the Command and General Staff College (CGSC) at Fort Leavenworth. Following CGSC, COL Bomar was assigned to 2^nd Battalion, 34^th Armor Regiment, 1^st ABCT, 1^st Infantry Division, where he served as the Battalion Operations Officer and Battalion Executive Officer. Colonel Bomar completed his time with 1^st ABCT, 1^st Infantry Division by serving as the Brigade Rear Detachment Commander during the brigade’s deployment in support of Operation Spartan Shield.

COL Bomar then served with the United States Forces Korea (USFK) as Plans Integration Branch Action Officer and the Executive Officer to the USFK Chief of Staff. Following his tour with USFK, COL Bomar served as the Deputy Commander for the 316^th Cavalry Brigade. COL Bomar then served as the commander for 2^nd Squadron, 16^th Cavalry, 199^th Infantry Brigade.

Following squadron command, COL Bomar served as the Executive Officer to the Armor Commandant within the US States Armor School and then attended the US Army War College. Prior to assuming command of Fort Irwin Garrison, COL Bomar served as the G3 for US Army South.

COL Bomar’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star w/1OLC, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal w/ 3OLC and the Combat Action Badge. He holds a BA in Sociology from the University of California at Davis, a Master’s in International Relations from Webster University and a Master’s in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College.
