Mr. Stephen B. Simmons, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (DASD(MC&FP)) made his first installation visit on July 9, just south of the Pentagon to Fort Belvoir, to learn about Family life, and explore ways to improve the Quality of Life for service members and Families worldwide.

Fort Belvoir’s Emergency Management team conducted a Hurricane Tabletop Exercise, June 3, to test, evaluate, and refine emergency response plans in a low-stress environment. This allows teams to identify gaps or weaknesses, ensuring plans are robust enough to handle a crisis before the damaging winds and rising river waters arrive.

Major Ceara Riggs, Associate Professor in the Administrative and Civil Law Department (ADA) at The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School (TJAGLCS) interviews Ms. Traci Voelke, Legal Assistance Attorney at Fort Belvoir and Gold Star Spouse. Ms. Voelke discusses various benefits available to the surviving spouses and children of Service members who have died while serving.

This time of year, is a complicated time for Army Families and military leadership, as the end of the school year approaches, and plans are made for road trips, days at the lake, cook-outs and more. But those very activities create a heightened risk for injuries and accidents due to increased recreational activities and potential lapses in judgment.

In support of the priority to quickly innovate against the increased weaponization of uncrewed arial systems, UAS and surveillance by cartel members, the U.S. Army Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance — C5ISR — Center has partnered with the 10th Mountain Division, providing cutting-edge technology and technical expertise to support the division with border operations.
