This time of year, is a complicated time for Army Families and military leadership, as the end of the school year approaches, and plans are made for road trips, days at the lake, cook-outs and more. But those very activities create a heightened risk for injuries and accidents due to increased recreational activities and potential lapses in judgment.
In support of the priority to quickly innovate against the increased weaponization of uncrewed arial systems, UAS and surveillance by cartel members, the U.S. Army Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance — C5ISR — Center has partnered with the 10th Mountain Division, providing cutting-edge technology and technical expertise to support the division with border operations.
More families would likely take advantage of the Fort Belvoir Youth Center if they knew, but many families living on post work at The Pentagon or Andrews Air Force Base. Feedback from the Interactive Customer Evaluation service, or ICE, said, “The Fort Belvoir youth program is the best thing I've seen in 10 years. The staff is great.” Services are available free of charge to military families.
2024 was a year of transformation and renewed mission focus for the military police Soldiers of Fort Belvoir Law Enforcement Activity (LEA), ushering in a new era of operational readiness and regional impact. May 1, Capt. Antonio Badillo Morales assumed command from Capt. David Byers at a change of command ceremony.
Sgt. 1st Class David Pough Sr., Fort Belvoir’s Master Resiliency Trainer, and NCO in Charge of the Readiness and Resilience Performance Center, was honored in February with induction as “Trainer of the Year, into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame. He received this prestigious accolade for his outstanding contributions to the Fort Belvoir and Joint Base Meyer-Henderson Hall Boxing Team. The award honored Coach Pough’s transformative impact on his athletes—arming them with skills to excel in both the ring and in life.
