The KidsFest kicked off with an official proclamation signing by Col. David Stewart, Fort Belvoir Garrison Commander, reaffirming the installation's commitment to supporting military youth. Hundreds turned out to the May 18th celebration.

Actor, musician and veterans advocate Gary Sinise returned to Fort Belvoir with his Lt. Dan Band Thursday, telling service members and families their sacrifices remain at the center of his foundation’s mission. The appearance was part of the Gary Sinise Foundation’s Invincible Spirit Festival, now in its 33rd installment nationwide at military medical centers.

More than 85 volunteers gathered at the Woodlawn Chapel, April 28, for an Army Community Service appreciation event celebrating the collective impact of their service to the installation and its families. The Army Volunteer Corps program, which includes over 250 individuals at Fort Belvoir, annually recognizes those who commit their time and talent to benefit the community. In the past year, 23,000 hours of volunteer service equated to $999,810 worth of services to the installation.

For over eight decades, the U.S. Army has upheld a fundamental promise to its personnel: to take care of its own. At the heart of this commitment is Army Emergency Relief (AER), a non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating financial distress among Soldiers and their families. That sense of security is directly tied to our warfighting capability, as readiness is our top priority. The umbrella of AER's support extends across the Army community to ensure no one is left behind in times of crisis.
