Structured Child Interviewing (SCI)

SCI is a one-week course that instructs DoW criminal investigators and MTF Social Workers how to properly conduct Structured Child Interviews with child victims and witnesses to traumatic events.  Students are taught the proper use of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) guidelines to maximize the amount of information from free-recall memory by using open-ended questions. Participants will enhance their practice competency by learning how to properly use both open-ended and focused questions while adhering to the research-based guidelines. This course is taught as a residence course at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.
