Duties
Duties and Responsibilities (0085)
- Performs security guard access control and patrol duties in accordance with appropriate regulations to detect and prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage and espionage and enforce the security regulations of the installation.
- Controls access of vehicles and pedestrians to installation.
- Allows entrance to persons and vehicles that display proper authorization.
- As initial point of contact, answers brief visitor questions, determines whether appropriate authorization for access exists, and provides assistance.
- As required by instructions or force protection level, conducts vehicle searches/inspections (to include cargo areas, engine compartments and undercarriages).
- Inspects containers, personal property, documents on private, commercial, governmental vehicles, and exercises tact, courtesy, and firmness in the performance of all force protection duties.
- Maintains an activities journal to document shift activity and annotates shift statistics such as frequency of personnel entering and leaving assigned areas to obtain heavy traffic patterns, etc.
- Assists Department of the Army police as required by rerouting traffic, crowd control, obtaining facts, taking statements, etc.
- Operates two-way communications equipment to summon emergency vehicles and crews when assistance is needed.
- Exercises emergency drills and equipment necessary to secure the installation.
Duties and Responsibilities (0086)
- As initial point of contact, answers brief visitor questions, determines whether appropriate authorization for access exists, and provides assistance.
- Conduct NCIC background checks on personnel seeking to obtain a visitor pass.
- Operate badging system to issue visitor pass/badge.
- Conduct identity proofing on all personnel seeking to obtain a visitor pass.
Requirements
T3 Background Investigation
- All security guards/assistants are also required to pass a T3 Background Investigation
Additional training and certification will be conducted upon hire.
Physical Agility Test (0085)
All guards are required to pass a physical agility test within 30 days of hire. The agility consists of:
- 19 push-ups in 2 minutes
- 1 ½ mile run in under 17:30

Civil Service Retirement
- Thrift Savings Plan
- Credit for Military Service - Military service does not automatically count toward civil service retirement.
- To receive credit for military service performed after 1956, you must pay a deposit.
- If you are a military retiree, you generally cannot receive military service credit towards your civilian retirement unless you waive your military retired pay.

Leave Administration
Federal Employees accrue annual and sick leave each pay period. The amount of annual leave you can accrue is dependent on your amount of creditable service. Full time employees receive the following:
- Less than 3 years of service – 4 hours for each pay period
- 3 years but less than 15 years of service – 6 hours for each pay period
- 15 or more years of service – 8 hours for each pay period
Sick leave is accrued at the rate of 4 hours for each pay period.
The maximum annual leave that may be carried over into the new leave year is 240 hours (30 days).
