Mission
As an integral component of Army’s Ready and Resilient Campaign (R2C), ASAP improves readiness of the Army through the development and enhancement of Army Suicide Prevention Program policies, training, data collection and analysis, and strategic communications designed to minimize suicide behavior; thereby preserving mission effectiveness through individual readiness and resilience for Soldiers, Army Civilians and Family members.
The Army’s ultimate goal is to prevent suicides. This is accomplished by building a culture of resilience, reducing risk, and strengthening Soldiers by increasing protective factors such as coping skills and help-seeking behavior through a combination of prevention, intervention and postvention activities.

My Safety Plan (video)
A Safety Plan is a tool for anyone who has experienced thoughts of suicide or self-harm.
Create your Safety Plan today using the Safety Plan mobile app: Mobile App: Safety Plan - PTSD: National Center for PTSD (va.gov). It was created by the National Center for PTSD, Department of Veterans Affairs. The app helps you make a safety plan, share your safety plan with loved ones, and use tools to manage distress. Although Safety Plan can be used on its own, creating your plan with a mental health provider can be helpful. Safety Plan is not intended to replace professional care.
With Safety Plan you can:
- Create a custom step-by-step action plan to keep yourself safe during a crisis
- Make a list of your own personal reasons to live (and add photo and video reminders)
- Try different coping strategies and activities
- Access crisis support resources, like the Veterans Crisis Line
- Track your mood and other mental health symptoms
- Set personal goals and track your progress
