AIE - Automated Installation Entry
What is AIE III?
Fort Campbell uses the Army’s Automated Installation Entry III (AIE) system, across all Access Control Points (ACP) which enhances the overall security. The AIE III system leverages technology that increases security for Soldiers, Family members, DoD civilians, retirees, contract employees, and guest by verifying identity of the individual(s) and ensuring the meet Army approved access standards against FBI criminal and terrorist authoritative databases.
Who can use AIE III to enter Fort Campbell?

Will cards like the Air Assault cards and the extended visitor passes issued prior to AIE?
The expiration dates on these cards will be honored, however will try to get all older passes and cards out of circulation as soon as possible. As we see these cards come through we will ask the individuals or organization to resubmit for the new pass or ID card.
What kind of things will the AIE system pick up on?
The system will continue to display those that are barred from the installation, loss of driving privileges, and Be On the Look Out For (BOLO) warning with other sensitive information.
Is there a statue for limitations for how long on offense is in the AIE system?
Depending on the offense, how and when it is adjudicated are factors in the length of time it remains in the system. Some offenses will depend on the civilian court of law.
What if someone believes something that is in the system tied to their identity has been resolved and should no longer be active?
If it’s a civil offense, it would need to be cleared on that side. If it’s a military or something that happened on the installation they would go through the legal appeal process (ex. Reapplying for their post driving privileges).
What kind of impact can we expect to see at the gates when the system is first implemented?
There can be delays at the gates especially during times of increased traffic.
What happens when someone has something in the AIE system?
Depending on the violation/offense they could be detained for a brief time frame so that further information can be gathered, then released at the scene. Others violation/offense could warrant them being transported to the Provost Marshals Office for further investigation.
There will be no further restrictions to the installation then those that are currently in place.
What if someone is coming on for medical care (especially to go to the ER), but has something in the AIE?
If someone is coming on for medical especially ER concerns normal procedures will follow. We request EMS at the scene and allow them to transport or give the OK for them to continue to drive. If the individual has something in AIE, we look at each situation differently and the guard on scene has the ability to make those decisions.
