Advanced Crime Scene Investigative Techniques Course

Course Description:
The Advanced Crime Scene Investigative Techniques (ACSIT) course includes advanced methods of investigation and evidence processing. It focuses on crime scene interpretation and analysis, advanced photography methods, advanced methods of crime scene documentation and advanced evidence evaluation, collection, and analysis techniques.
 

Prerequisites:

Military Warrant Officer: This course is designed primarily for US Army CID Special Agents WO1- WO3 or other similarly designated service personnel. All personnel attending this course should be familiar with their respective service crime scene handbook (USACIDC Pamphlet 195-10 Criminalistics Handbook, AFOSI Manual 71-124 Crime Scene Manual, NCIS Field Guide Crime Scene Manual).

Military Enlisted: This course is designed primarily for US Army CID Special Agents and Military Police Investigators E-4 through E-7 with actual experience employed as a Special Agent/Military Police Investigator, or other similarly designated service personnel. All personnel attending this course should be familiar with their respective service crime scene handbook (USACIDC Pamphlet 195-10 Criminalistics Handbook, AFOSI Manual 71-124 Crime Scene Manual, NCIS Field Guide Crime Scene Manual).

Military Civilian: This course is designed primarily for US Army CID Special Agents, Investigators, Supervisors, Laboratory Examiners, and/or other similarly designated service personnel with actual experience employed as a Special Agent, Investigator, or Laboratory Examiner. All personnel attending this course should be familiar with their respective service crime scene handbook (USACIDC Pamphlet 195-10 Criminalistics Handbook, AFOSI Manual 71-124 Crime Scene Manual, NCIS Field Guide Crime Scene Manual).

Special Information:

Reservation and Scheduling: Typical course reservations are given priority to USACIDC personnel. However, other reservations are possible through submitting a waiver request through the Director of Training. See the DOT&E website for waiver and email.

CAC Cards: U.S. Military personnel must possess a CAC card with valid security certificates and functional PIN number to access DOD computer systems during training.

TRAP Courses: Unscheduled courses may be requested through the ACSIT Course Manager and, if approved by USAMPS, will be reserved solely for the requesting unit. Personnel may request a reservation within a TRAP course only with permission from the requesting unit and/or ACSIT Course Manager.

Packing Lists/Dress Code:
  • Business casual attire
  • Weather-appropriate attire is required, as training will take place both inside and out.
  • Unit issued Government Travel Card

POC:
While attending ACSITC students are assigned to B Company, 701st Military Police Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO 65473. For information concerning travel or issues not covered on this page, you may contact the course manager or at commercial telephone number (573) 563-1082 / (573) 563-8136.

Transportation Issues:

If your Privately Authorized Vehicle (POV) is authorized on your orders, ensure your orders state "IN AND AROUND MILEAGE IS AUTHORIZED". If you desire a rental vehicle, you must arrange approval for such through your current command. If you are authorized a rental vehicle ensure your orders state "RENTAL CAR IS AUTHORIZED". Shuttle busses and taxis are available however, not before PT commences each morning. In the event a student is billeted off post, it is recommended the students command authorize a rental vehicle.

Billeting and Per Diem Issues:
If attending on Fort Leonard Wood: Billeting and Per Diem will be determined on the location of the course.If attending at Fort Leonard Wood: Billeting can be scarce on Fort Leonard Wood. Billeting will accommodate as many students as possible before giving statements of non-availability. Ft. Leonard Wood billeting (Building 470) can be reached Commercial: (573) 596-0999 or DSN: 581-0999.  Coordinate Per Diem issues with your unit prior to course attendance.

Where to Report:
Upon arrival to Fort Leonard Wood students will check in with Billeting (Bldg #2020, Candlewood Suites) located at the intersection of MP Drive and Nebraska Avenue and receive their room assignments. You will obtain a welcome letter containing specific reporting instructions pertaining to the specific course you are attending.
