TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS INVOLVING GOVERNMENT VEHICLES
Please read the attached article as a reminder of what to do if you, or someone that you supervise, is involved in an accident while driving a U.S Army vehicle. Remember that if there is damage to private property or if the U.S. Army vehicle was damaged by a private party, a completed copy of the SF 91 (Revised in September 2020) must be submitted to the Army Claims Office on Torii Station.
TYPES OF CLAIMS & ASSOCIATED DOCUMENTATION
AFFIRMATIVE CLAIMS (Government Claims) The U.S. Government may assert and collect for damaged government property. The typical claim involves a traffic accident that damages a military vehicle.
PERSONNEL CLAIMS (HOUSEHOLD GOODS SHIPMENT) normally involve household goods shipments damage.
UNDER THE MILITARY CLAIMS ACT involves claims against the United States by inhabitants (normally residents) of the United States for negligent or wrongful acts. A typical claim is usually a traffic accident involving a U.S. Government vehicle.
MISCELLANEOUS CLAIMS If a Soldier willfully destroys or wrongfully takes your property.
