All incoming military personnel to the Monterey Bay area are required to report/in-process with the Housing Services Office (HSO) prior to renting, leasing or buying a home.
The HSO provides relocation services to service members and their families, retirees, and DOD civilians affiliated with the Presidio of Monterey (POM), Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC), Navy Postgraduate School (NPS), Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC), Coast Guard (USCG) and Recruiting and Reserve Commands. If you are inbound to the Monterey Bay area, your point of contact for relocation assistance regarding housing in the local area is the HSO. For those leaving Monterey, the HSO will assist with information about your next duty station and the availability of housing as well as other support functions at your new location.
The HSO is located at Building 4250 General Jim Moore Blvd, Ord Military Community, Seaside CA 93955. The hours of operation are Monday - Friday 7:45am to 4:45pm. The office is close on weekends and federal holidays. Phone (831) 242-7979

The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 set out eighteen rights of military service members and their families (Tenants) residing in privatized housing. The Department of Defense commits to ensuring that privatized housing Tenants receive quality housing and fair treatment from the Military Housing Privatization Initiative project owners (MHPI companies) that operate and maintain privatized housing.

Both the U.S. Army Public Health Center (APHC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Indoor Environments Division offer a number of recommendations for prevention, investigation, evaluation and remediation of mold exposure in an any environment.

Housing Environmental Health Response Registry
The U.S. Army Medical Command has established a Housing Environmental Health Response Registry to address housing health or safety concerns of current or former Army housing residents. The registry will allow the Army Public Health Center to provide current or former residents information on environmental health hazards, assist them in seeking medical care for any housing related illnesses or concerns, and serve as a two-way exchange of information for all potential enrollees.
