Although there have been some issues with military housing in the past year, officials are cracking down and trying to find solutions for these problems. Some of these measures include getting maintenance orders filled in a more timely and efficient manner.

Danae Belton, a fourth-grader at C.C. Pinckney Elementary and child of a Chaplain School chaplain on Fort Jackson, has given her Family something of which to be very proud. Belton was named the 2020 Ambassador for the South Carolina Speech Language Hearing Association at the annual awards luncheon held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center on Feb. 14.

Fort Jackson's landscape has seen many changes throughout the years as it transitioned from Camp Jackson of yesterday to the largest Basic Combat Training post today. "Daddy Ike" witnessed all the changes the installation has undergone since 1950.

Fort Jackson's best of the best have been named during the Drill Sergeant of the Year, Non-commissioned Officer of the Year and Soldier of the Year competition held recently. Each competitor endured a grueling week of physical and mental challenges that tested their knowledge, composure and heart.

Fort Jackson housing residents, the Garrison Housing Office has "heard you." All way stop signs have been installed throughout the community in an effort to combat speeding through the housing area.

The Fort Jackson Religious Support Office hosted its annual National Prayer Breakfast Feb. 4 at the NCO Club. The theme of this year's speech included the importance of spiritual fitness as well as love and respect for one another.

Fraternal twins, Annika and Margaret Meyer, recently became permanent battle buddies after graduating Basic Combat Training together on Jan. 30 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. The twins were assigned to the same company within 2nd Battalion, 39th Infantry Regiment enabling them to tackle the training and graduate together.

In the wake of the deadly Novel Coronavirus outbreak, Moncrief Army Health Clinic officials are closely monitoring the health of our Soldiers and ensuring that we are taking the necessary precautions to educate and safeguard our Soldiers, Army Civilian employees, as well as Family members and retirees. Currently, Moncrief Army Health Clinic and Fort Jackson have no reported cases of the virus. However, five cases have been reported in the U.S.
