Family members can pick up their Soldier from Fort Jackson after graduation if they’re on a split option contract and live within 210 miles of Fort Jackson, Fort Jackson’s commander announced during a virtual town hall Aug. 14. That distance is how far a permanent party Soldier can go if they leave the installation.

On-post school will remain in a virtual option for the upcoming school year, the Fort Jackson commander announced Aug. 12 as part of a Return to School Virtual Town hall with Fort Jackson and local educational leaders.

The trend I am referring to is Families and friends attempting (some successfully) to "infiltrate" the installation on Family Day and Basic Combat Training graduation day to spend time with their loved one.

As a component of the Soldier life cycle, the Career Skills Program provides Soldiers with opportunities to participate in career and employment skill training during their last 180 days of military service. CSP opportunities include pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, internships, employment skills and on the job training in a variety of industries.
