Although most people at the U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Academy know her as Mrs. Regina Norris, Supply Technician, she was once drill sergeant Norris, and she has a 24-year Army career behind her.

If you’ve ever been to an Army ceremony, you may be familiar with the pomp and circumstance accompanying many of them. The noncommissioned officer induction ceremony holds to that tradition of rituals and formality, with its professional celebration of the passing of Soldiers into the ranks of the time-honored NCO Corps.

Fort Jackson Commander Brig. Gen. Milford H. “Beags” Beagle, Jr. hosted the 24th COVID-19 town hall Nov. 5 with Post Command Sgt. Maj. Philson Tavernier, along with the senior enlisted leaders of the193rd Infantry and 165th Infantry brigades: Command Sgt. Maj. Raymond Butler and Command Sgt. Maj. Roberto Guadarrama.

There have been so many positive messages and stories to share since my last article, that I simply enjoyed reading and following the stories. Stories ranging from another Fort Jackson Soldier being selected as the Army’s Best Warrior to the celebration of key events such as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and many others are simply heartwarming to read.

Sacrifice is something every service member understands. The deployments, training and other job responsibilities often take them away from loved ones. Many people find comfort in their faith during these times of separation. At Fort Jackson, volunteers help ensure trainees and Soldiers are able to celebrate their religion and become part of a larger community.
