“Changes of responsibility give us a chance to recognize the accomplishments of not only the individual but also of the organization,” said Col. Mark Huhtanen, 193rd Infantry Brigade commander, during his unit’s change of responsibility ceremony May 3. “While we are sad to see those that have made such an impact on our organizations go, it does allow us to reflect and set goals for the future.”

Col. Joseph A. Jackson took control of the Leader Training Brigade from Col. Brian Beckno during the change of command ceremony April 15 at Victory Field.

Fort Jackson has a tool in their kit to help the community with everything from getting around post during graduations to what to do in case of emergency.

Fort Jackson will resume in-person graduations April 22 as part of a pilot program where up to 500 Family members are allowed to attend the ceremony.

Fort Jackson and the Army & Air Force Exchange Services honored Vietnam veterans March 29 by hosting a ceremony and giving out Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pins at the Exchange.

Fort Jackson housing updates were just one area highlighted in the Fort Jackson Community Town Hall held virtually March 18. Fort Jackson leadership as well as representatives gave updates to the post community about a variety of on-post events and facilities.

The graduation is “not just about the graduates on the field,” said Training and Doctrine Command’s senior enlisted leader Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel T. Hendrex to Family members watching online as 1st Battalion, 34th Infantry Regiment Soldiers graduated March 11.

Pvt. Kenny Oliver who recently graduated Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, with the 1st Battalion, 34th Infantry Regiment also has another title ... DJ Kenny Oliver.
