To sustain Army readiness through exceptional environmental stewardship.
about usThe Fort Huachuca Environmental & Natural Resources Division ensures that our installation remains a premier, resilient training environment while protecting our vital natural and cultural resources for future generations. By balancing operational requirements with ecological preservation, we ensure our forces can train effectively today without compromising the resources of tomorrow.
Environmental Compliance Branch
Hazardous Waste, Clean Water, Etc.The Compliance Branch is dedicated to ensuring that all installation operations align with federal, state and local environmental regulations. From managing hazardous materials and solid waste to safeguarding our air and water quality, our team provides the critical oversight necessary to maintain uninterrupted mission readiness and protect the health of our Soldiers, civilians and surrounding communities.
Conservation Branch
Forestry, Natural & Cultural ResourcesBalancing the rigorous demands of military training with the protection of Fort Huachuca's diverse ecosystems and rich history is the core mission of the Conservation Branch. Our experts manage forestry, wildland fire mitigation, and wildlife programs, including the protection of threatened and endangered species. Additionally, we act as caretakers for the installation's archaeological and historical sites, honoring the legacy of the land we operate on.
Cultural Resources Program
The Cultural Resources Management program is dedicated to identifying, preserving, and managing the rich historical and archaeological legacy found across our installation. We ensure that all military operations, training exercises, and construction projects comply with federal preservation laws, including the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA).
Implemented on April 3, 2025, the Army Warfighting Readiness (AWR) Program Comment (PC) requires installations to prepare a public annual report. Fort Huachuca’s annual report will be available here by February 1 of each year.

Natural Resources & Endangered Species Management
Our Natural Resources program is committed to preserving the ecological integrity of the installation while fully supporting the Army's critical training and testing missions. In accordance with the Sikes Act, our team implements a comprehensive Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) in close partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and state wildlife agencies. A primary focus of this mandate is the proactive protection and management of Threatened & Endangered Species (TES) and their habitats. By balancing ecological stewardship with military readiness, we protect the region's unique biodiversity and guarantee that our training lands remain resilient and accessible for future generations.

National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Coordination
The Conservation Branch ensures that environmental considerations are seamlessly integrated into all proposed military actions, construction projects, and training exercises. By conducting thorough National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) assessments, we facilitate sustainable development, range operations, and infrastructure improvements while proactively addressing potential environmental impacts before they occur.
Domestics & Wildlife Management
Our team handles the safe relocation of nuisance wildlife, and responses to issues involving stray, lost, or feral domestic animals. To protect both our residents and the natural behaviors of native species, we actively educate the community on safety protocols—including the strict prohibition against feeding wildlife. If you encounter an aggressive animal, find a stray pet, or need wildlife assistance, our team is here to respond and support.
Please contact the Fort Huachuca Miliary Police Office at 520.533.3000 to report a wildlife or domestic animal emergency.
