Chaplain/Unit Ministry Team

The Detroit Arsenal utilizes the Unit Ministry Team (UMT) of the largest tenant organization on the Arsenal, Tank-automotive and Armaments Command.  The TACOM Chaplain and Religious Affairs Specialist perform or provide comprehensive religious support to all personnel in the Detroit Arsenal area of responsibility.

Office Hours/Location/Appointments:

The UMT's Office is located in Building 230, Suite 110-C and is only open Monday through Friday from 0730-1700 due to the nature of the DTA mission.  The UMT is available for emergencies 24/7.

Worship Services/Religious Studies/Auxiliaries:

The UMT's office on the Arsenal performs and provides a variety of religious services, religious studies and auxiliary groups for all personnel, their families and veterans.  A weekly Roman Catholic Mass is provided as well as auxiliary groups offering programs for men, women, and Inter-faith dialogue regularly meet.  The Arsenal also has a choir sponsored by this office.  All services and studies are provided only during weekdays due to the nature of the Detroit Arsenal mission.

Chapel:

The TACOM UMT oversees and operates one chapel located in Building 230, Suite 110-C.  It is open twenty-four hours a day seven days a week for events, quiet/reflection time.  Please see the TACOM Chaplain’s section on the TACOM website for event times.

 

Muslim Prayer Room/Blessed Sacrament Chapel:

The UMT’s office area also has separate space available for Muslim prayer that is open 24/7 and a small Blessed Sacrament Chapel for quiet meditation when the main chapel is occupied by other events. 

 

Reading Area/Library:

The UMT’s office area has a small reading nook/library available for study, contemplation and discussion.  It is open 24/7.

 

Pastoral Care/Counseling:

The UMT provides a variety of free services to help develop and strengthen your most important relationships in life. Counseling is free with no referral needed and open to Active Duty military of all branches, retirees, family members, DOD civilians and contractors. Counseling includes the following topics:

  • Relationship problems
  • Pornography
  • Sexual addiction
  • Infidelity
  • Childhood sexual abuse
  • Parenting issues
  • Deployment related issues
  • PTSD and other traumatic life events
  • Religious/Spiritual issues
