PFC Milton A. Lee Transition Assistance Program
The Transition Assistance Program (TAP) provides information and training to ensure transitioning Soldiers, Department of the Army Civilians, Retirees, Soldiers’ Family members and Caregivers are prepared for their next step in life - whether pursuing additional education, finding a job in the public or private sector, or starting their own business. TAP is a Commander’s Program and a Soldier’s responsibility and is administered locally at the Fort Campbell Transition Assistance Program Center, or at the 24/ 7 TAP Virtual Center ✪ for those more than 50 miles from any military installation offering Transition Assistance classes. The mandatory components of TAP are applicable for all service members who have at least 180 continuous days or more on active duty; this includes National Guard and Reserve serving on Title 10 status. Going early and often to TAP has statistically proven to increase the chance of post- transition success for Soldiers. TAP requirements need to be completed much earlier in order to begin the job search at this six-month mark with the documents and knowledge needed to successfully search for open positions. The Fort Campbell TAP Center serves approximately 8,000 Soldiers, Civilians, and Family Members each year.
TAP enables Soldiers to capitalize on their Army experience and skills and to make informed decisions using transition program services – setting Soldiers up for success.
Soldiers leaving the Army must complete the Mandatory Pre-Separation Counseling Checklist (DD Form 2648) no later than 12 months from their separation date. Mandated Veterans Opportunity to Work (VOW) Act training requirements must be completed prior to separation. Once Soldiers are eligible, it is recommended to begin transition program services as early as possible. Visit the Fort Campbell Army Transition Assistance Center located at 5661 Screaming Eagle Blvd. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday - Friday. TAP is open on Training Holidays/DONSAs and closed on all Federal Holidays.
