Colonel David J. Stewart
Colonel David J. Stewart was designated as an ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate and commissioned
in the United States Army Corps of Engineers after graduating from North Carolina A&T State
University with a degree in Architectural Engineering. Colonel Stewart earned a Master of Science
Degree in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology, and a Master
of Science Degree in National Security Strategy from National Defense University and holds a
Project Management Professional Certification.
Colonel Stewart has served in command and staff positions in the continental United States, Hawaii,
Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan. His key assignments include: Platoon Leader, Company XO, and
Assistant S3, 37th Engineer Battalion, Fort Bragg, NC; Assistant S3 and Company Commander, 2nd
Engineer Battalion, Camp Castle and Camp LaGuardia, South Korea; Project Engineer and
Resident Engineer, United States Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Bliss, TX; Stability Transition Team
Advisor, 1st Brigade Combat Team, Fort Bragg, NC; Battalion S3, 37th Engineer Battalion, Fort
Bragg, NC; Battalion XO, 307th Engineer Battalion, Fort Bragg, NC; Operations Security Officer and
Anti-Terrorism Officer, United States Army Pacific, Fort Shafter, HI; Chief, Training Division,
DPTMS, United States Army Garrison, Fort Hood, TX; Battalion Commander, 1-364th Brigade Engineer
Battalion, Joint Base Lewis-McChord; Engineer Organizational Integrator, G-357, United States Army,
Pentagon; and Director, Mission Assurance Division, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Fort Belvoir,
VA.
He most recently served as the Chief of Staff/Military Deputy, J35, at DLA and was responsible for
the supervision of daily operations, strategic engagements, and communications for the J35
Directorate: Mission Assurance, Program Modernization, Plans and Exercises, Strategic Business, and
Strategic Plans and Futures.
Colonel Stewart is a graduate of the Engineer Officer Basic Course, Engineer Captains Career
Course, Combined Arms Staff Services School, Command and General Staff College – ILE, and the
National War College. In addition, he graduated from Airborne School, Air Assault School,
Jumpmaster School, and Sapper School.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (7 Awards), Army
Commendation Medal (3 Awards), Army Achievement Medal (5 Awards), Combat Action Badge, Master
Parachutist Badge, Venezuelan Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Sapper Tab, and Army Staff
Identification Badge.
Colonel Stewart has two children, Olivia and David.
