The WSMR Aquatic Center holds lifeguard training for the WSMR and local communities

WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M. (May 25, 2023) Today, the WSMR Aquatic Center kicked off the second day of a four-day lifeguard training which was available to the WSMR and local communities to register for. By the end of this training, participants will become Red Cross certified and will be equipped to provide life saving care for breathing issues, cardiac emergencies, and injuries.

This training is held three times a year after school sessions end for spring, summer, winter break and is available to anyone who has post access. The course costs $180 for each participant.

“This is a survival skill you can learn and use anywhere in aquatic and first aid emergencies. Participants are trained at a professional level for first aid and CPR and can work along first responders should the need arise in an emergency. It is a certification that is good for two years and can fulfill any jobs that require these skills," Andrew Armendariz, WSMR Aquatic Center Manager.
