Changes to the April 2 Trinity Site Open House

WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M. (March 7, 2022) – White Sands Missile Range will open Trinity Site to the public on April 2. Trinity Site is where the world’s first atomic bomb was tested at 5:29:45 a.m. Mountain War Time July 16, 1945.

This is a free event. The Stallion Gate is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors arriving at the gate between those hours will be allowed to drive unescorted the 17 miles to Trinity Site. The road is paved and marked. The site closes promptly at 3:30 p.m.

The Trinity Site Open Houses now require all visitors to be fully vaccinated and registration is required. No vaccination waivers/exemptions will be accepted.

All attendees five years and older must provide a COVID-19 vaccination card indicating that the individual is fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means that someone has completed a one or two-dose series COVID-19 vaccine. A “booster” vaccine is not required for an attendee to be considered “fully vaccinated.”

COVID-19 vaccination cards will be checked at the gate upon each vehicle’s entry onto the installation. If any individual five years or older within a vehicle does not provide their vaccination card, the vehicle and all passengers will not be allowed access to the Trinity Site Open House.
