WSMR Commander Col. George C. Turner, Jr. holds honors and retirement ceremony

WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M. (February 22, 2024) The White Sands Missile Range Commander Col. George C. Turner, Jr.  held an honors and retirement ceremony to recognize excellence in the WSMR Service Members and workforce.

The master of ceremonies, Rocío Rangel, Test Technology Directorate Engineer, provided opening remarks for the ceremony and announced the awardees.

The Length of Service Award, Civilian Service Achievement Medal, Civilian Service Commendation Medal, Meritorious Civilian Service Commendation Medal, and Outstanding Soldier Performance in the 2023 Winter Physical Fitness Challenge were given to outstanding WSMR Service Members and employees.

In closing the ceremony, Turner recognized three employees retiring from WSMR and wished them happiness and success in the coming years. Ruben T. Soto and Grace Y. Malone retired with forty years of service, and Ignacio M. Lopez retired with twenty-two years of service.
