The Commanding General of White Sands Missile Range, Brig. Gen. Eric Little, hosted a Staff Delegation (STAFFDEL) from the Armed Services Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives for a tour of WSMR April 7.
Members of the STAFFDEL were Shaun Taylor, Legislative Director, Rep. Pat Fallon (R-TX-4); Luke Dube, Legislative Director, Rep. Marc Veasey (D-TX-33); Naajidah Khan, Military Legislative Assistant, Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX-16); and Tyler Hinkle, Military Legislative Assistant, Rep. Gabe Vasquez (D-NM-2). WSMR was the third stop for this STAFFDEL after touring Fort Hood, Texas, and Fort Bliss, Texas. The focus of the tour was an overview briefing and discussion of the organizations stationed at WSMR by Little, where he emphasized that WSMR is the Department of Defense’s premier open-air test facility; WSMR is the test bed for energy resiliency; and is a major contributor to the Army’s Multi-Domain Operations doctrinal development.
Little’s overview was followed by the following organizational briefings: Col. Shawn Smart White Sands Test Center; Fred Hankerson, Deputy Garrison Commander; Commander Adrian Laney, U.S. Navy; Maj. Joshua Smith, U.S. Air Force; and Capt. Alvaro Drevon, Special Operation Forces – Test and Experimentation Center. The tour continued with a windshield tour of main post and concluded with a working lunch with members of the WSMR staff.
