October is Army Energy Action Month

"Readiness Through Resilience" is the Army's theme for October National Energy Action month 2023. It highlights the integral link between mission capabilities and energy availability.

Implementation and deployment of power generation, energy storage, and modern technologies, like microgrids, enables the Army to ensure power availability. Microgrids manage multiple generation sources and load and can provide power and operate independently during emergencies or normal operations.

Energy security is national security. Power is critical to Army operations, access to uninterrupted energy is a core enabler of national defense.

To help save energy, follow the guidelines in AR 420-1 such as: Heating season temperatures will be at 72°F during working hours and during unoccupied times, 55°F. Cooling season temperatures will be at 74°F during working hours and during unoccupied times, 85°F.

Space heaters are prohibited: The operation of portable heating and cooling devices is prohibited where the intent is to circumvent the heating and cooling standards. Medical waivers are available on a case-by-case basis. Submit a work order if the building space is not at the correct temperature.
