Former White Sands Missile Range Staff Judge Advocate Lt. Col. Jon Cheney was recognized for 26 years of service during the Honors and Retirement Ceremony Sept. 14 at the Post Theater where several employees were also recognized for their contributions.

Former White Sands Missile Range Staff Judge Advocate Lt. Col. Jon Cheney was recognized for 26 years of service during the Honors and Retirement Ceremony Sept. 14 at the Post Theater where several employees were also recognized for their contributions.

WSMR Commander Brig. Gen. Eric Little presented Cheney with a certificate of retirement, a certificate of appreciation and the Legion of Merit upon his retirement.

Cheney, who served 26 years in the Army, commissioned into the Army in 1997 and served as WSMR’s SJA from 2021 to 2023.

Cheney’s wife, Karri J. Cheney, also received a Certificate of Appreciation for her service.

Little also presented Tamara Turnbull, an Occupational Health Nurse at McAfee U.S. Army Health Clinic, with a certificate of retirement and the Civilian Service Commendation Medal for her service.

Several employees received the Senior Mission Commander’s Coin, ATEC Commander’s Coin, Certificates of Appreciation and Certificates of Achievement.

Some employees also received the Civilian Service Awards and Military Service Awards.
