Firefighter Austin Oblack along with Lt. Edgar Valenzuela operate the WSMRs OASHKOSH Striker ARFF Apparatus to clear a rescue path and initiate extinguishing measures on a Rotary Wing Aircraft Prop during ARFF Nighttime Operations. The training is integral to ensure that every member of the WSMR Fire Department is physically and mentally prepared to operate should an In-Flight Emergency Occur. Training under similar conditions as an actual emergency allows for firefighters to understand and overcome the challenges presented under extreme conditions.

Firefighters at White Sands Missile Range underwent Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting training July 7 at the WSMR Fire Department Training Grounds.
ARFF training operations is a major component of WSMRs Fire Department Mission to the Garrison to ensure the safety of all personnel and the community.
