Command Sgt. Maj. Hermes F. Acevedo
CSM Hermes F. Acevedo hails from Ponce, Puerto Rico. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1994 as a Military Policeman and completed One Station Unit Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama. After serving six years in the Regular Army, he transferred to the Army Reserves and served a Deputy Sheriff in Lee County, Alabama. In 2004, he mobilized in support of the Global War on Terrorism and in 2005, he returned to the Regular Army through the RC/AC program.
CSM Acevedo’s former duty positions include: Garrison Command Sergeant Major (USAG-Bavaria); G-3/5 Sergeant Major (7 ATC); Battalion Command Sergeant Major (709 MP BN); G-3/4 Protection and Provost Sergeant Major (USAREUR-AF); Provost Sergeant Major (Fort Stewart and Fort Jackson); Brigade Operations NCO (89 MP BDE); First Sergeant (139 MP CO and 546 MP CO); Operations Sergeant (546 MP CO); Platoon Sergeant (549 MP CO); Senior Drill Sergeant (A CO/795 MP BN and B CO/796 MP BN); Senior Instructor/Writer (2/100th MP BN); Team Chief (TASS); Squad Leader (630 MP CO); Team Leader (MPA Fort Rucker), and Military Policeman (284 MP CO).
CSM Acevedo’s deployment experience include a tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina in support of Operation Joint Endeavor (IFOR), two tours to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and one tour to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).
CSM Acevedo is a graduate of the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence Sergeants Major Academy (SMC Class 66), the Nominative Leaders Course, the Pre-Command Course (BN & BDE CSM), the Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course, the Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, the Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, the Primary Leadership Development Course, Combatives Course, Drill Sergeant Course, Anti-Terrorism Instructor Qualification Course, Total Army Instructor Course, Basic Instructor Course, and the Special Reaction Team Course. CSM Acevedo is also a graduate of the Alabama Criminal Justice Police Academy, the State of Alabama SWAT School, and the Regional Counterdrug Training Academy. CSM Acevedo holds a Masters of Science in Criminal Justice with concentration in Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
