Command Sgt. Major Tyler Dodd

Command Sergeant Major Tyler Dodd, an Army Brat, experienced multiple permanent change of station moves with his parents, from Korea to Germany to Florida and finally Virginia where he graduated high school. He enlisted in the United States Army in January of 2002 as an Engineer Diver.

Dodd assumed responsibility as the U.S. Army Garrison Command Sergeant Major in November of 2024. He most recently served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 84th Engineer Battalion, 130th EN BDE, Schofield Barracks, HI. His previous assignments include Operations Sergeant Major for the 14th Construction Management Team, 130th EN BDE, Schofield Barracks, HI; Chief Diving Supervisor of Engineers, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCoE), Fort Leonard Wood, MO; First Sergeant of 511th Engineer Dive Detachment, 92d EN BN, Fort Eustis, VA; Team Sergeant of the Underwater Recovery Team at the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, HI; Platoon Sergeant and Master Diver, 511th Engineer Dive Detachment, 30th EN BN, Fort Eustis, VA; Squad Leader and Diving Supervisor; 544th Engineer Dive Detachment, 30th EN BN, Fort Eustis, VA; Operations Sergeant, D CO, 577th EN BN, Panama City, FL; and Team Leader and Salvage Diver, 86th Engineer Dive Detachment, 6th Transportation BN, Fort Eustis, VA. He has served on three combat deployments to Iraq, and 11 operational deployments supporting CENTCOM, EUCOM and INDOPACOM.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Army Command General Staff College in Leadership and Workforce Development. His Military Education includes all levels of NCOPDS from Basic Leaders Course through the Sergeant Major’s Academy (Class 70). His other training includes the Brigade Pre-Command Course, Command Sergeant Major Development Program, the Battalion Pre-Command Course, the Common Faculty Development Instructors Course, the Joint Engineer Operations Course, Army Master Diver Evaluations, First Class Divers School, Army Engineer Dive School, and SCUBA Construction Demolition Diver Course. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4OLC) and the Army Achievement Medal (3OLC). He has also been awarded the Army Master Diver Badge, First Class Diver Badge, Salvage Diver Badge, Second Class Diver Badge, the Royal Engineer Diver’s Badge, the Kuwaiti Special Forces Dive Badge and the bronze de Fluery Medal.
