The heat category chart is a visual aid to assist leaders in determining the correct work/rest ratio for their Soldiers in hot weather conditions.

Moreover, leaders are reminded to monitor their Soldiers for adequate water consumption whenever their soldiers are performing to hard work.



In accordance with U.S. Northern Command directive, Fort Riley has increased security measures across the installation. There is no specific threat to Fort Riley. This is a prudent measure to establish proactive actions to mitigate threats to the installation and protect personnel, assets, resources and infrastructure. Closures and Delays

The following scheduled road closures and expected traffic delays are due to ongoing infrastructure upgrades. Please allow more time in your travels or avoid these areas during these periods.

Beginning January 29 and expected to last about 6 weeks - Southbound traffic on Huebner Rd will be redirected to Northbound Huebner Rd. The intersection at Custer & McCormick will be a temporary 4-way stop during this time. This work is part of phase two for the bridge replacement on Huebner Rd.

Dec. 23, 2016 - Apr. 01, 2018: road construction will be near the intersection of Huebner and McCormick Roads, west of the Post Cemetery. Drivers should be alert for movement of trucks on and off the roadway. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be overseeing construction of a replacement bridge and realignment of Huebner Road.

1st Division Road Single Lane Closure August 2 - 3

The western lane of traffic on First Division Road will be closed but this will not impact traffic in passing in both directions due to the extra lane on the Western side of the road for traffic traveling south. 


1st Division Road Closure July 26 - September 27

1st Division Road will be closed in training area #41 just south of range 4 to replace culvert and erosion control. The road will be closed to all traffic during construction. Detour will be on adjacent tank trail. DRIVE WITH EXTREME CAUTION WHILE ON THE DETOUR.

Trooper Drive Road Construction July 28-August 16

The construction to repair the roadway will be from the Trooper Drive ACP to the Junction City Bridge. Traffic will be reduced to one late two-way traffic controlled by a pilot care during construction activities. EXPECT MAJOR DELAYS - ALTERNATIVE ROUTES ARE RECOMMENDED. 



Vinton School Road Closure June 17 - September 30

Vinton School Road closed west of the skeet and archery range access to all traffic for bridge repair. Follow detour on the tank trail. USE CAUTION WHEN DRIVING ON THE TANK TRAIL. 



Henry Drive Road long-range construction: Mar 26, 2021 - April 16 , 2022

A complete road and shoulder replacement of Henry Drive from Ray Road to the access control point. There will also be construction of a roundabout at Smoky Hill Road and realignment of Smoky Hill Road. During the Henry Drive closure traffic will be detoured onto Smoky Hill Road, Marshall Drive, Runway Road and Ray Road (around the airfield). The complete project will take from March 226, 2021 to April 16, 2022. Henry Drive with detour around the airfield will be from March 26 to October 31, 2021.
