REAL ID NOW IN EFFECT AT FORT MCCOY: The REAL ID Act enforcement went into effect May 7, 2025, at Fort McCoy. Under these requirements, all personnel accessing Fort McCoy are required to have a common access card (CAC) or other form of identification compliant with REAL ID requirements.
Anyone using a CAC for access to Fort McCoy is already compliant and will not need to take further action. For those who do not have a CAC, we will implement this in three phases.
1. Effect now, anyone with a REAL ID compliant form of identification can have their access record updated at the Visitor Control Center (VCC) and will be issued a new pass or installation access card as appropriate.
2. Effective since May 7, 2025, anyone who enters Fort McCoy and has not updated their access record at the VCC must provide a valid pass or installation access card along with a secondary form of identification compliant with the REAL ID requirements.
3. Effective since July 1, 2025, all individuals who use a pass or installation access card for access to Fort McCoy, MUST have completed their access record update at the VCC using their REAL ID compliant form of identification and obtained a new pass or installation access card. Failure to update access records at the VCC by July 1 will result in denied entry to Fort McCoy.
Lastly, if you do not already have one, please act now to obtain a REAL ID as the time to obtain one may be longer than expected as the deadline draws closer.

LINK/QR CODE FOR PASSES: Fort McCoy Physical Security would like to announce our exciting, new online vetting system. You can click the link or scan the QR code and fill out the information and submit prior to arriving at Fort Mccoy and receive your pass approval in a text message within minutes.
This new program will cut down on wait times for personnel who have state-issued ID or driver's license that is Real ID compliant. Personnel using United States passports for registration must present both their driver’s license and United States passport upon entering Fort McCoy. Once approved you will be able to proceed right to the gate, you no longer have to come to the Visitor Control Center.
All other approved Real ID compliant photo IDs must still obtain a pass from the Visitor Control Center in Building 35.
You have the option of 1-day, 3-day, or 7-day passes depending on the reason for your stay. You can re-register if you need more time or plans change. Just click or scan again.
Special events will come with their own Special QR code and Web address, normally for one day use only. Please watch for special events QR codes in posts related to those events.

INSTALLATION LEGAL OFFICE NOTICE: The Installation Legal Assistance Office (west end of building 2171) has updated hours. Walk-in appointments are available on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Scheduled appointments remain available Monday through Friday. Eligible clients include active-component Soldiers, reserve-component Soldiers on active-duty orders for 30 days or more, military retirees with 20 years or more of service, and their family members. Department of the Army civilians may also be eligible on certain military matters. To schedule an appointment, call 502-898-2165.
