A marine named Robert Hackett, who served back around 2005, influenced me to join the Army. The Army itself also played a huge factor, providing great benefits and a similar lifestyle to the game of football.
I imagined Basic Combat Training to be this intense, physically and mentally straining challenge; competing against peers who would want to do their best to learn what it takes to serve and protect their country.
The most challenging part of BCT was dealing with peers. A lot of the time they made things difficult by not doing the right thing or giving all their effort, causing a lot of what we needed to do or learn to delay or not happen.
My advice to others preparing for BCT would be to always give your all at everything, respect your peers, and really take in all the information the drill sergeants are teaching you.
My MOS is 91B - Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. I chose this MOS because I figured it would be a great skill to learn and master and a way for me to provide more for the Army.
